#FitnessFriday – Sumo Squat
The sumo squat is an effective lower body strength exercise to target the glutes. The wide stance emphasizes the muscles of the inner thigh and can be performed as a traditional squat or with a weight at chest height to challenge the core.
- Start with feet wider than hip width apart and feet slightly turned out on a 45 degree angle.
- Engage the core and hinge the hips backwards before bending the knees and descending into the squat.
- Keeping the chest up tall, engage the glutes to stand back up.
